Overview

This full-day cycling adventure takes you from the heart of Siem Reap into the surrounding countryside. You will experience authentic local life far away from the main tourist areas.

The journey begins with a visit to Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm Shrine, an important spiritual site for local people. From there, you cycle along quiet riverside paths and village roads, stopping to visit vegetable gardens, palm sugar producers, and families who create traditional basket weaving and palm leaf handicrafts known as Smok.

Continue riding through Lolei Village and the traditional Phum Boran area, surrounded by sugar palm trees and wide open rice fields. As you approach Kompong Phluk, you will visit a local crocodile farm to learn about this unique rural livelihood.

The day concludes with a peaceful boat ride through Kompong Phluk floating village on Tonlé Sap Lake. Watch the stunning sunset over the water before your transfer back to the hotel in Siem Reap.

Ride Along the Siem Reap River

From the shrine, cycle along the peaceful Siem Reap River, enjoying the shaded riverside path. Along the way, you’ll stop to buy local snacks from friendly street vendors and observe daily life in the quiet neighborhood of Phum Mondol 3, where locals sell fresh fruits, desserts, and handmade products.

Local Vegetable Gardens

Continue riding into the countryside to visit traditional vegetable gardens. Here you’ll see how local farmers grow herbs, morning glory, eggplants, cucumbers, and other seasonal produce. Learn about Cambodian farming techniques and irrigation methods that support families year-round.

Traditional Palm Sugar Production

Cycle further into the rural landscape to see how villagers produce palm sugar from palm trees. You’ll learn how sap is collected, boiled, and turned into solid sugar — a key ingredient in Cambodian cooking and desserts. Taste fresh palm juice if available.

Lolei Village & Lunch at The Hut Restaurant

Arrive at Lolei Village, a peaceful countryside community. Enjoy lunch at The Hut Restaurant, where you can relax and recharge with delicious local dishes. After lunch, take a short rest before continuing the journey.

Phum Boran of Lolei

Explore the traditional Phum Boran (old village) area of Lolei, surrounded by tall sugar palm (Sla) trees and wooden stilt houses. This quiet village offers an authentic glimpse into rural Cambodian life, far from the tourist crowds.

Rice Fields & Local Market

Ride through a small countryside market and continue cycling along scenic green rice fields stretching toward Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll see bright green young rice or golden harvest fields — perfect for photos.

Kompong Phluk Floating Village & Sunset Boat Ride

Arrive at Kompong Phluk, a fascinating stilted village on the edge of Tonlé Sap Lake. Cycle through the village before boarding a local boat for a peaceful sunset cruise. Glide through flooded forests (seasonal) and enjoy stunning views as the sun sets over the water — a magical highlight of the day.

After the boat ride, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Siem Reap, ending a memorable day filled with culture, countryside, and authentic local experiences.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
